FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This FAQ answers the most frequently asked questions about Battery Brain.

How does Battery Brain work?

The Battery Brain that is attached to the vehicles battery will disconnect the load from the battery when it detects a drain beneath a certain level, saving energy to restart the vehicle when needed. This means that if you mistakenly leave the lights or radio on, or there is an unknown short in the system, Battery Brain makes sure that your car will start.

How long it takes for the Battery Brain to disconnect?

It depends on the battery condition, if it’s a used battery, the Battery Brain will disconnect the load from the battery in a shorter time then in a new one. It also depends on the amount of load that was left on while the engine was not running. In any case it will save the driver from getting stuck without the ability to restart the car.

The Battery Brain will not disconnect the load from the vehicle battery while the engine is in normal operation.

How does the Battery Brain prevent your car from being stolen?

The Battery Brain will disconnect the load from the battery, which means, there is no electrical power in the vehicle, in that way a thief can't "hot wire" the vehicle because there is no energy source to start the engine.

Only the driver can reset the load by pressing the remote control button or by pressing the manual reset knob on the Battery Brain unit.

Will the Battery Brain disconnect the alarm devices?

Any accessory, such as clocks, alarms, computers, memory settings or any devices can be connected directly to the positive post of the battery. There is a special connector on the battery, the alarm or the other accessories will still be energized.

In general, if the battery completely drains, the alarm or the other accessories will not work anyway! By installing Battery Brain you prevent this from happening.

What is the energy consumption of the Battery Brain?

The Battery Brain uses 10 Milli Ampere during normal operation, after disconnecting the load from the battery, the consumption is zero for type I and next to zero for all others types.

What is the difference between the Battery Brain and other similar devices?

  • There are other products that disconnect the headlights, but they will not disconnect other accessories such as; radios, trunk lights, interior lights, door lights, or deal with unknown shorts in the electrical system, etc.
The Battery Brain does it all! Battery Brain disconnects all electrical connections other than the ones you desire to leave on. (Those have to be wired directly from the fuse box to the butterfly connector on the Battery Brain).
  • Other products that disconnect the load from the battery, the differences are: The other products are too complicated and difficult to install. The Battery Brain is small (1 3/4" X 2 1/8" X 2" ) and in most cases installation takes no more then a few minutes, as it attaches directly on the vehicle’s battery, it’s a “do it yourself” installation.
  • The Battery Brain is the only device that has a remote control to reset the load. (With model Type III you can disconnect or connect the battery power any time you chose to do so). By using the remote control you can leave the lights on intentionally for added safety while walking to or from the vehicle, and the Battery Brain will disconnect it automatically. Whenever you return to your vehicle you remotely reset the load from a distance and approach the vehicle safely. By using Battery Brain model Type III you can remotely disconnect the load from the battery whenever you chose to do so. It serves as a great anti theft device. Other products require the driver to get out of the car, lift the hood, (remember the extreme cold weather) locate the brain and press the reset knob. Similar devices that do not reset from under the hood cannot be disconnected intentionally, and if their reset switch has malfunctioned there is no other way to reset, resulting in the driver getting stuck without the ability to drive away.
  • BY-PASS Functionality
The Battery Brain is the only device that has the ability to by-pass itself when needed, such as in the event that there is no charge and the driver wants to use the remaining energy of the battery to get to a safe place or the nearest service station.

What type of vehicles can use the Battery Brain?

All types of vehicles, from passenger cars to light trucks to heavy trucks, buses, tractors, RV's, motorcycles, boats, handicap vehicles or any other vehicles that rely on batteries.

What is the life expectancy of the Battery Brain?

The Battery Brain employs state of the art technology that will last for many years. The Battery Brain is bound by a Manufacturer's warranty for two years and the product is covered by product liability insurance.

Can the driver disconnect the car battery when he wants to?

For example:

  1. To prevent the car from getting stolen, disconnect the battery.
  2. When used on a boat, disconnect the battery whenever you're done using the craft.
