Chief Executive Officer
Pete Mateja brings over twenty years of profitable management experience in Sales, Marketing, Distribution and Manufacturing to his role as Chief Executive Officer at Smart Energy Solutions, Inc.
He has a diverse background having held President, Chief Executive Officer and/or General Management positions in automotive, medium and heavy duty truck, RV, fire truck and body building manufacturers as well as industrial manufacturers. He has led companies to significant revenue, market share and earnings improvements.
Pete has led manufacturers such as Navistar International Corporation Canada, Home & Park Motorhomes, E – One Canada, Amerock Canada and SuperPac/Frink. He is also the past President of the Automotive Parts’ Manufacturers’ Association.
He is a graduate of the University of Windsor, Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and M.B.A. (Finance).
Aharon Levinas
Chief Technology Officer
Aharon Levinas is highly talented scientist and prolific inventor, with an extensive background in software and electronics. His experience in the semiconductor industry and production of unique microchips led to the development of the Battery Brain – one of a new generation of hi-tech automotive products.
Aharon moved to the U.S. in 1991 and established Purisys, which originally developed high strength water treatment plants for food industries and water oxidation inventions for the semiconductor industry.
Prior to 1991, Aharon was Chief Engineer at the Granot Organization and then headed the development group at Lummus International in Columbus, Georgia. In Israel, he was President of Aniam Engineering and Aniam Purification.
Aharon earned his Bachelors Degree in Electronic and Mechanical Engineering from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. He also holds a MA in Environmental Engineering.
Ed Braniff
Chief Financial Officer
Ed Braniff joined Smart Energy Solutions in May 2004 to serve as Chief Financial Officer. He brings a wealth of advisory and management experience, and specific experience in consolidation, restructuring and financing.
Ed brings extensive experience, including many years in finance positions as AT&T. He was Assistant Treasurer, Assistant Controller, and CFO at different times for operational and international divisions of the corporation.
After AT&T, Ed consulted for major corporations and served as CFO for The Global TeleExchange and The Cedar Group.
David Lubin
General Counsel
David Lubin is a corporate and securities attorney and serves a General Counsel for Smart Energy Solutions, Inc. He is the principal of David Lubin & Associates, a boutique corporate law firm specializing in SEC matters for Bulletin Board companies.
David Lubin & Associates is also active in mergers and acquisitions, including reverse mergers, private and public financings and venture capital transactions. Acting as their clients’ general business counsel, the firm structures and drafts corporate and commercial agreement.
David practiced law in Israel, where he represented multinational
corporations such as AOL Time Warner and Motorola in a variety of
corporate transactions. He received his J.D. cum laude from Brooklyn
Law School and an MBA from Baruch College in 1989 and was the Editor,
2002, Bender’s Forms Consolidated Laws-U.C.C. and Editor, 1995,
New York Practice Guide: Business and Commercial, Matthew Bender.
Andrew Knowles
Vice President Sales - Marketing
Mr. Knowles brings over twenty years of successful sales & marketing experience in vehicle related industries to this role. Smart Energy Solutions, Inc. is inventor and manufacturer of Battery Brain, an innovative, patented automotive aftermarket devise that saves vehicle batteries from draining so that they cannot be started.
Prior to joining Smart Energy Solutions, Mr. Knowles has headed sales and marketing with several organizations including Home & Park Motorhomes and Canadian Kawasaki Motors. He was also a past President of both the Motorcycle and All Terrain Vehicle Manufacturers Industry Council.
Originally from the United Kingdom, he moved to Canada at age nine and has resided there since. He is a graduate of York University in Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and History with a strong background of Executive Education including sessions at Harvard University, Boston, Northwestern University, Chicago and University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
